Haflaga is for anyone who wants to get out on the water, and that includes the way we build this site. We treat accessibility as part of the product, not a badge to bolt on, and we keep working at it.
The standard we follow
We aim to meet Israeli Standard 5568, which adopts the WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines of the W3C, in line with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773–2013. Our internal target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is a superset of that.
What we have done
- The whole site can be operated by keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline on every interactive element and a "skip to content" link on every page.
- Semantic HTML with landmark regions, a single ordered heading structure per page, and labels on every form field.
- Text alternatives on meaningful images; decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers instead of being announced as noise.
- Full right-to-left support in Hebrew — layout, typography, and iconography mirror rather than being visually flipped.
- The site respects your operating system's "reduce motion" setting and never uses motion as the only way to convey meaning.
- Colour is never the sole carrier of information, and body text is sized in relative units so it scales with your browser settings.
The accessibility panel
The accessibility button in the bottom corner of every page opens a panel with adjustments you can turn on at any time: larger text in three steps, high contrast, highlighted links, a more readable font, wider text spacing, paused animations, and a large cursor. Your choices are stored in your own browser and re-applied on your next visit. Nothing is sent to us, and no account is needed.
Known limitations
We would rather tell you where we fall short than claim we are finished:
- Embedded third-party content — maps and video players — is outside our control and may not fully meet the standard.
- Some documents offered for download may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will send you an accessible version.
- User-generated content, such as boat descriptions and photos supplied by owners, may lack complete text alternatives.
Physical premises
Haflaga is an online service. Boats, marinas, and experiences are operated by independent partners, and their accessibility varies by vessel and by dock — please contact us before booking and we will check the specifics with the operator for you.
Found a problem? Tell us
If you hit a barrier anywhere on this site, we want to hear about it — it is the fastest way for us to fix it. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using.
